The australian broadband guarantee is an act set up by the Australian government to get broadband service and Internet to those in areas where broadband is not available or is hard to get a hold of. The government is working with Internet companies who have signed on, and is working on distributing the service to those without Internet. The government has put $250.8 million dollars into the service, and is guaranteed for the next four years through 2012. The service is for most residential homes and small businesses, so they can have access to Internet in areas where that is slim or not available. The program is desired to hit areas where broadband is slow or totally unavailable, therefore helping putting Internet in more homes and small businesses then previously before. The government is working with and paying other Internet companies to help get the access out there to those who are eligible for the program.
The choices you have and the decisions you have in getting the Internet widely depend on your location, the technology being used, and what is available. You need to make sure you are eligible for getting this broadband, and there are a few criteria. You can be a residential household, a small business with less then 20 employees, in an area without broadband, or an Indigenous Community Council. If you fall into one of the previous groups, then you are available to get this Internet. It is a great way to make sure you are getting the Internet you need, and the act is set up to have more access throughout remoter parts of the country.
If you are eligible for this program, then you can save thousands of dollars in paying for your own Internet or getting it through another provider.
