Energy is All Around Us
Everything that grows or lives has it’s own energy. Energy is the amount of work that something can do. There are many different types of energy in the world around us. Just to name a few there are kinetic, thermal, potential, gravitational, light and sound. Every type of energy is beneficial to us in our world. Most energy can be transformed into other types but the amount of energy is consistent. Without energy we wouldn’t even exist, so it’s important to understand all that you can about how it works and what it does for you.
Kinetic energy is one of the most interesting types of energy. Kinetic energy is best described as things in motion. The amount of energy an object holdes when it is moving. Thermal energy has to do with energy that creates heat. A stove top is a good example of thermal energy. Thermal energy is the energy that is in metals like in magnets. Potential energy is very interesting because it is best described as energy that is stored. It can be changed and converted to create just about any other kind of energy. We need energy to live and we probably take it for granted.
It takes energy to run a computer, a washer, a hair blow dryer, a car and just about everything that moves. We can store energy in a battery or in solar panels in order to use it at another time. Energy that is created by wind or water is also important to our everyday lives. Many states and countries around the world are now using water and wind to create power and save on oil reserves. If we don’t use energy efficiently then it may be harder to come by in the future.
Energy makes our lives possible in many ways and it is all around us. There are so many types of energy that understanding them all can be confusing. Even gravity is an energy that holds us down. Light particles are also a type of energy. We probably don’t even realize that most everything around us consists of some form of energy, even ourselves. In order to understand how energy works you don’t have to be a scientist or a mathematician, you just have to realize that it is somethings potential to do work. Appreciating and understanding energy is important because energy does make life possible.
