Tips For Your Panasonic Lumix Battery

You have just received that beautiful sporty new camera for Christmas and you’re ready to shoot just about everything around you. Before you get started, consider the following tips and ideas for making the most of your panasonic lumix battery. While it seems obvious, still it is recommended that you read the manual before charging your new camera. Charge the battery completely before using the first time. It’s going to take a bout four or five times of cycling your battery before you reach your full capacity. What this means to you is that you will need to run your battery down completely to shut down mode every 2 weeks or so. Then, re-charge it completely. This conditioning will help extend the life of your battery. But keep in mind, even re-chargeable batteries are going to eventually wear down and need replacing. A good tip to remember is that if you’re not going to be using your panasonic lumix battery for a month or so, take it out of the camera. This will help reduce the chance of your battery leaking and ultimately corroding your batteries internal parts.

To lengthen the amount of usage you get from your batteries, make sure to turn off your camera when it’s not in use. Don’t rely on your internal shut off mechanism as this will run longer than you are using it. The biggest drain on your batteries is your LCD screen. When possible, use your view finder to snap pictures the old fashioned way. Avoid browsing through all your pictures on battery power. Again, it’s the use of the LCD that is draining your panasonic lumix battery.  Snap several shots and preview them later. Save your deleting for later when you put your card on the computer. This will also preserve some of your battery usage. On a slightly unrelated topic, make sure your charger has a sensor to prevent over charging. Plus, never put a metallic item on your panasonic lumix battery or it can cause your terminals to short circuit.

Just in case, purchase an additional battery to keep on hand. This way you can cycle the two batteries and keep them going longer. Your battery is going to take about 240 pictures or approximately 2 hours of shooting with each complete charge. With the above tips, you can lengthen your usage considerably.
