What You Need To Build Your Own Websites

Alright, so you are finally ready to join the rest of the millions upon millions of people that have their own websites.  Good for you!  Now, it doesn’t really matter what you want to do with your own website - whether you just want to set up some kind of fan site for your favorite reality tv show contestant, or just a basic family photo album for all of the family to go to and see, or if you want to use your site for business purposes and sell items or services online – you are going to have to have a couple of the same basic things to get things rolling.  Which of course, is what we’re going to cover for you.

First, let’s make sure that we have an understanding about the costs that can be involved with building your own websites.  If you decide you don’t want to do any of it yourself, and you’re willing to pay a developer to do the work for you, well, you could end up paying a whole lot of money as you can end up paying per page, per graphic, per this, and per that.  So, if you’ve got the time, learning to build your site yourself can save you tons.

As for the things that you are going to need it really isn’t that much.  First, there is the domain that you’re going to need.  Your domain is essentially the website address for your site.  Simple enough, right?  So, you’ll have to find a domain registrar in your price range and pay for the website name that you want.  Usually, this isn’t an expensive thing to do at all, just a few bucks a year most of the time.

Now, along with needing a domain, you’re going to need a web hosting company.  These companies provide the server space where your website will “exist” in a sense.  Most of the time you can find really great deals on the hosting that you’re going to need, but this is where things can get all mixed in together.

You see, you can find domain registrars and web hosting companies that offer the same exact services.  Many times hosts offer free domains to entice people to come to them, and there are even some websites out there that offer everything in one package, where you can not only get your domain, but get your hosting and be able to create your own site all-in-one.  As long as their pricing is competitive, that’s a definite winner.
